2-D Arts, 5-7 years and 8-11 years

Students will have a blast learning the basics of art by painting, drawing, learning printmaking techniques and collaging. Our small classes offer students a nurturing environment and allow teachers to give individual attention to your child. This class can be taken repeatedly because there will be new projects each session. All materials included.

3-D Arts,  5-7 years and 8-11 years

Students will have fun creating sculptures in a small and nurturing environment. Projects planned will include a variety of the following: clay, paper-mache, wire, wood and paper. All materials included.

2-D Arts for Parent and Child,   6-12 years

Come enjoy an evening with your child painting, drawing, learning printmaking techniques and collaging.
The teacher, Ashley Hendrix, has lots of fun projects that will inspire you and will teach you a few fundamentals of art making.

3-D Arts for Parent and Child,  6-12 years

Come with your child for a fun-filled, creative evening at Art House 7. Projects will be a variety of 3-D media—clay, paper mache and more! You will work on some projects together and separately. Maybe some projects can be gifts for the grandparents!

Adobe Photoshop, 12-16 years

Teacher: Joanne Edwards

Learn the basics of Adobe Photoshop. Students will be lead through a project with lots of room for experimentation and exploration. Adobe Photoshop is an extremely powerful application that’s used by many professional photographers and designers. You can use Photoshop for almost any kind of image editing, such as touching up photos, creating high-quality graphics, and much, much more. This program can be used to create images from scratch or to alter existing images.

There is a $15 fee to use our computers w/Adobe Photoshop. AH7 pays a monthly fee per computer for Adobe Photoshop.
Because of this, students must register at least a week before class starts to ensure we have a computer with Photoshop installed for them. You may bring your own laptop if you already have Adobe Photoshop.

Adventures in Art,  4-5 years

Teacher: Amy West

Adventures in Art  offers a joyful hour of stories and process art. Your little one is bursting with personality and individuality: this class will nurture and celebrate their uniqueness with this introduction to expressing oneself through art. Students will hear stories, learn about famous artists and make lots of art!

Art Exploration,  4-5 years

Teacher: Joanna Edwards

In this preschool class, children will gain new skills and talents while being exposed to a variety of materials. They will have fun using their creativity and imagination, as well as, developing their fine and gross motor skills.

Introduction to Cartooning: Storytelling with Pictures,  6-10 years

Teacher: Brittany Lawrence Root

Students will learn to create their own cartoon characters using basic shapes, develop their own story line, and sample cartoon strip. This class will teach children how to combine basic shapes to create people, animals, and objects using a variety of art materials. Students will be introduced to visual storytelling and story sequencing to channel their creativity and sense of humor. All materials included.

Digital Photography, 9-13 years

Students will explore the basics of photography on a phone or tablet. We will learn about composing a shot and shooting from different perspectives, point of interest, rule of thirds, leading lines, and telling a story about a person, place or object. We will also explore basic editing and digital darkroom techniques using the Snapseed app. Students should come with a phone or tablet.

Drawing, 9-13 years

Students will create drawings in a variety of mediums – pencil, ink, charcoal and pastels. Through the series of projects, basic elements of art – line, shading, color, perspective and composition will be discussed. Students will draw from life, from photographs and from their imagination. Materials included in tuition.
Projects vary each session. So you can sign up for multiple sessions without repeating lessons.

Drawing 101,  12-16 years

Teacher: Joanna Edwards

This class provides first-time/beginning students with a solid foundation in drawing. Working with pencil and charcoal, students learn to use line, value, gesture, and perspective. Students also learn to develop the ability to see as artists. The class works with a variety of subjects including still life, landscape and portraiture.

Painting and Drawing,  5-7 years and 8-12 years

Students will enjoy learning about art’s basic elements of through a series of projects using a variety of mediums – pencil, ink, charcoal and pastel. Painting and Sculpture 5-7 years, 8-11 years, and 8-12 years

Students will paint, draw, collage and sculpt, as they are introduced to a variety of famous painters and sculptors. The object of this class is for kids to create their own masterpieces while learning about the basic elements of art–line, shape, color and texture. Materials included.

Parent/Child Art Exploration with Ms. Ashley & Ms. Lachewitz, 8:30-9:15am and 9:30-10:15am 4-9 years

Parent & Child Art Saturdays is taught by mother/daughter teaching team Elizabeth Ashley, former Taylor Elementary art teacher, and Lauren Ashley Lachewitz, current Taylor Elementary first grade teacher. This will be a fun time to listen to a story and get inspired to work with a variety of materials while learning about the basic elements of art — line, shape, color and texture. Stories and Art with Wanda 4-5 years

Each week an interactive storytime will inspire creative exploration in drawing, painting, printmaking techniques, collage, sculpting with clay or mixed media construction. This 45-minute drop-off class is perfect for 4-5 year olds.
