Because we run small classes to provide personalized attention, each spot is important. A cancellation not only affects our ability to fill the class but also impacts our ability to fairly compensate our dedicated teachers, who plan and prepare in advance. We appreciate your understanding and support! *If you cancel your class registration:* - At least 10 days before the start date, we will refund your tuition, minus a $25 registration fee to cover administrative costs. If Arlington Public Schools are closed all day, then all AH7 classes are cancelled. If APS has a 2-hour delay, AH7’s morning classes starting before 11am are cancelled. When APS is closed and AH7 is open: we will email our students if we decide to close during bad weather. She loves painting a variety of subject matter — portraits, landscapes and animals in a variety of styles. Her portraits are more classical and her other work is brightly colored and expressive. Primarily she works in oil but she also uses a variety of media — wool, wire, wood in sculptural pieces. Anne received her MFA in Painting and Sculpture from the San Francisco Art Institute and her BA in studio art from the University of Virginia. She loves teaching to both adults and children. She wants Art House 7 to be a welcoming and creative space for people to learn, develop skills and express themselves in their art. Cronin was raised in Western Massachusetts, where she was immersed in all forms of the arts and culture. She received her bachelor’s degree from nearby Mount Holyoke College, an all-women’s college. Her major was studio art with a concentration in printmaking. Following college, Janice pursued a path in art conservation and restoration. She worked for high-tech businesses, got her MBA degree, and assisted in the startup of a $30 million business. Starting in 1998, Janice studied at the Art League School of Alexandria, Va. She completed the MFA-Painting degree program at the Academy of Art University (AAU) in San Francisco in May 2022. As an adolescent she moved with her family to Belgium where she learned to appreciate and admire the works of the old masters. This experience imprinted in her young mind a definite attachment and dedication to the arts. Alessandra Davila is a painter trained in classical painting at the Maryland Institute College of Art and the Schuler School of Fine Arts, where she developed a strong foundation in traditional techniques. Alongside her personal studio practices, she has extensive teaching experience spanning various countries over the last three decades. Most recently, her art studio was located in Mallorca, Spain, where she offered oil painting classes to adults, adolescents and young children. I create work that honors cultural diversity, helps me navigate transformation, and reveals the unseen rhythms, mystery, and magic of the natural world. I began as a photographer over 25 years ago, drawn to the camera’s power to tell real, human stories. Early experiences assisting Mary Ellen Mark and Graciela Iturbide inspired a deep commitment to documentary work. For years, my focus was people—photographing communities, teaching storytelling through photography, and leading arts education programs in places such as Mali, Cuba, and Mexico. I’ve always believed in the power of visual narrative to uplift voices and bridge differences. The pandemic transformed my practice. In solitude, I turned toward the natural world—walking, collecting, and observing. Gradually, my focus shifted to mixed media, layering organic and found materials to explore transformation, memory, and renewal. She loves painting, printmaking, and mixed media. The main themes she explores in her artworks include psychological concepts such as the inner child and the process of emotional healing, social and psychological impacts of oppression, and how societal contexts influence one’s identity. From sketching on desks and homework assignments to crochet and paper making, name an art medium and they’ve probably tried it! But one school year, she was placed into an advanced ceramic class with no prior experience. Within 3 weeks, Joie went from hating ceramics to rearranging her entire schedule to make room for extra studio time. She is currently pursuing her bachelor’s degree in Studio Art and Secondary Education. After graduating, she will be striving for a master’s in Ceramics/Pottery to teach as a professor. Joie values inclusivity, equity, responsibility, creativity, accountability, diversity, and determination as a teacher; and her favorite quote is “The best time to plant a tree was 25 years ago. She has a BA in art history and history and a post-grad degree in the fine and decorative arts. She’s been teaching Sunday school (kindergarten, first and second grade) for 8 years and subbing at a preschool. Caroline has 4 kids of her own. She enjoys painting, drawing, horseback riding, tennis, playing piano, skiing, river sports, reading, doing puzzles. She graduated from Tufts University in 2023 with a major in Child Study & Human Development and a minor in Studio Art. Her work with children and the arts happily combines these two passions. She primarily paints in oil and acrylic, but also enjoys drawing and is always open to exploring new media. Outside of art, she loves volleyball and currently coaches at Yorktown High School. He has taught art for 3 years, since graduating from the University of Mary Washington in 2018. He graduated undergrad in 2017 with a Bachelor’s degree in Art, focusing in ceramics. She is a full time painter whose works can be seen in collections and galleries throughout the U.S. and internationally. Among the institutions that have recognized her works: the American Museum of the Cowboy, the former Corcoran Gallery of Art, the Portrait Society of America and the Museu Europeu D’Art Modern in Barcelona. Her training includes a four-year diploma from the Angel Academy of Art (Florence Italy), graduate studies at the Florence Academy, and many other courses. Currently she teaches workshops around the U.S. and in Europe. Teresa also takes a variety of portrait commissions and founded a fashion company called “House Of Oaxaca,” selling wares online at [houseofoaxaca.com](http://www.houseofoaxaca.com) She is a member of the Young Partners Circle of The National Museum of Women in the Arts; the National Art Education Association (NAEA); the Arts Club of Washington; the California Arts Club. Her grandmother introduced her to knitting and her mother taught her to needlepoint and cross stitch. Always eager to learn new ways to keep her hands and creative spirit occupied, Lydia taught herself how to crochet. She enjoys the process of learning new techniques and bringing patterns to life, and crochet has provided her so much joy and confidence in her ability to create. While using her life as a narrative compass in her work, she draws and paints T-U-F-F gals giving their all. Whether pouty eyes, or chunky knuckles, she uses oil, charcoal, and a skewed perspective to insert a humorous eye towards Americana. Lore has been in clay programs in England, New York, Ohio and currently her work is in the Scope Gallery at the Torpedo Factory in Alexandria, Va. She loves introducing her love of clay to students and helping them make bowls, mugs, plates, and vases. Lore was 10 years old when she first tried the potter’s wheel and has been hooked on clay ever since. For over 20 years, she has been teaching beginning through advanced levels of ceramics for adults, teens and elementary age children. She specializes in 2D animation and naturalistic subjects. Lara graduated from the Maryland Institute College of Art in 2025 with a BFA in Animation and minor in Illustration. She has directed multiple animated short films including Seagull and the Crow and Binary Pulsar Systems, both of which were featured in the MICA Animation Festival and Stick in the Dirt Animation Festival. If you arrive early for your class, please wait to enter the studio until five minutes prior to the scheduled start time. Please clean up and leave on time!. #### What to wear? - Clothing that can get messy! - Short sleeves - Apron - Hair ties if needed --- #### What to bring? If you have your own tools that you prefer to use, feel free to bring them with you. *Be sure to label them with your name.* --- #### What not to bring? - Bracelets, rings, and loose jewelry are best left at home. Small objects can easily become lost in clay. - Do not bring your own glazes. ***No glazes** other than those provided in the studio may be used.* --- #### Open Studio We offer an Open Studio program for **adult** students seeking additional studio time outside of class **for an additional fee. Sign up in advance! Space is limited.** - Two to three hour blocks of time are scheduled throughout the week for current students to work independently on existing or new clay projects. - These slots are great for those who want extra practice or more time for complex projects. - A studio monitor from our staff will be present but **no instruction**will take place. - Students are responsible for their own setup and cleanup. Please check in with the monitor before leaving. - Open studio sign-ups are **ONLY open to *adult* students enrolled in the current session and to students needing to finish glazing** shortly after the end of their course. \*Any unfinished, unfired items will be recycled at the conclusion of your session. - **Do not start** new work in open studio after the last day of your class. - **Please be advised that work made in open studio may not be ready on the same schedule as your work made in class.** --- #### How many pieces can I make in the class? We do not limit the quantity of work students can create. The number of finished works can vary depending on size, complexity, and student skill level. Beginners usually make 2-5 pieces. Students that create a large amount of additional work should be aware that it may be difficult to complete all of their projects by the conclusion of the session. *Check in with your instructor throughout your course if you have concerns.* --- #### Absences **Students enrolled in a full length 6-week class that are absent from a class can receive one free open studio sign-up per session**. If you are absent and want to register for an open studio time, contact our office during business hours and someone from our staff can help you register. **(Free makeup must be scheduled through the office. Online signups cannot be refunded.)** --- #### Class Cancellations - **If a class is cancelled due to a teacher’s absence**, we will schedule a make-up class at the end of the session. If you cannot attend the make-up class, you WILL be refunded for this class. - **If a class is cancelled due to weather,** we will schedule a make-up class at the end of the session. If you cannot attend the weather make-up class, you WILL NOT be refunded for this class. - **If you have any planned absences during your class session,** please inform your instructor in advance. --- #### Keeping track of your work In addition to signing your name or initials on your pottery, each class will have an identifying symbol or marking that must be included on the bottom of every piece. - These symbols help our staff keep track of your work and ensure that it is fired and ready on schedule. - Many glazes will obscure these markings so please try to include them on an area that will not be glazed. Additionally, many people share the same initials which can cause confusion and mistakes during work pickup, so unique markings are best! - **Take photos of your work along the way.** --- #### Firing and Finished Work Pickup All student work that is glazed by the last day of class will be fired and ready for pickup during a number of scheduled pickup days. - The **scheduled pickup times** will be listed on the Art House 7 website under the tab Pottery Pickup. - Do not come outside of the scheduled times to pick up your work unless you have made arrangements with Andrew (), the ceramics studio manager. 7 students **What if I just finished a class and need to finish something?** You have 3 weeks to finish your work. Then, using a felting needle, they will sculpt the wool into whatever form they choose. A felting needle is a very sharp needle with barbs on the end. The barbs make the wool catch on itself which in turn binds the wool. Students can create something free-form or use a cookie cutter as a guide. Then, using a felting needle, they will sculpt the wool into whatever form they choose. A felting needle is a very sharp needle with barbs on the end. The barbs make the wool catch on itself which in turn binds the wool. Students can create something free-form or use a cookie cutter as a guide. We provide 2-hour parties starting at $350 for the birthday child and 9 guests, which includes a non-refundable $35 scheduling fee. Each additional guest is $25. Maximum number of participants is 18. Optional goodie bags (containing a sketchbook, markers or watercolor, pencil and ruler) are $9 each. Parties run from 1pm – 3pm on Saturdays and are for children ages 5+. Most projects are done with acrylic paint on canvas unless stated otherwise. The kids will take inspiration from the chosen project and learn how to make their visions come to life! After designing their fish and shaping the wire, they will decorate their creation with glass beads. They will then put a protective gloss coat of Mod Podge on the beads. At the same time, they will take turns hammering unique metal charms. Toward the end of the event, the kids will create necklaces and bracelets with their custom beads and charms. Polymer clay is oven-bake clay and can be baked in as few as 15 minutes. Each additional guest is $25, with a total maximum of 18 participants. #### Cancellations and rescheduling We understand that sometimes plans change, and we strive to be as flexible as possible while ensuring fairness to our staff and other clients. Please review our policies below. **Cancellation policy:** *If you need to cancel your scheduled birthday party or private event at our art studio:* - More than 21 days before the event: Full refund minus the $35 scheduling fee, or the option to reschedule at no additional charge. - 7 to 20 days before the event: 50% refund or the option to reschedule with a $50 rescheduling fee. - Less than 7 days before the event: No refund will be issued, but we will do our best to accommodate a reschedule with a $75 rescheduling fee. **Rescheduling Policy:** - If you need to reschedule your event, we will make every effort to find a new date that works for you. Rescheduling fees apply as noted above. - Rescheduled parties must take place within 60 days of the original event. **No-Show Policy:** - If you do not arrive for your scheduled party without prior notice, no refund or reschedule will be available.
