In this small class, we will work with each student individually on what their focus will be, i.e., figures, landscapes, animals, still-life or abstract. Demonstrations will be given throughout the session on the elements of art—color, perspective, line, shading . . . as well as technique—from the use of different brushes, the layering of colors, to glazing.     Friday, 3/2 (teacher workday). $70; early-bird price: $65 (expires 2/21). 8-12 years. Come learn about the Dutch master Vincent Van Gogh and his beautiful boat paintings. The teacher, Amy West, brings Van Gogh to life. Students will learn a little about the time period and the place where he lived, as well as, some of his extraordinary painting methods. They will work with thick paint to create a painting with the texture and vibrancy of his masterpieces.
